Darla Moore-Hodson DCSI7306Darla became Open Water Certified in 1997. Swallowed the hook, so to speak. She started working Full-time at Adventure Sports in February 1998. Darla continued her education and in September 2000 became and Open Water Instructor. In December 2002, she accomplished her Advanced Open Water Instructor and in November 2006 I obtained my Dive Control Specialist Instructor rating. I am very fortunate to share with our clients, travels throughout the world. I like to shoot underwater photography and spearfish. I have a great fondness for teaching and sharing the underwater experience with new divers. Remember don’t just learn to dive, LOVE to DIVE! |
Gustav Lian III “Gus” AOWI8386I started my diving experiences by free diving for abalone as a teenager and than entering the scuba realm in the late 1960’s into the mid 1970’s. After a hiatus, I finally got serious in 1999. I certified with Adventure Sports. Dive leadership was a natural progression while building certification ratings and I’m currently an Advanced Open Water Instructor capable of teaching 9 specialties. My Satisfaction in dive leadership comes from the ‘look’ of students after their transformation from light apprehension into avid, confident apprentice divers with a thirst to learn more and the ease at which this is achieved with the SSI Total Teaching System. I absolutely believe that enjoyment in the sport comes from being comfortable and confident which in turn comes with training, experience, proper equipment and good buddies to share the experience with. |

Don Edwards OWI21847After years of snorkeling while on warm water vacations, I wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream - to be able to stay down with the critters longer than I could hold my breath. In 1999 the dream became reality as I certified as an Open Water Diver. I was hooked, and found diving the Northwest was really great. Once I owned my own drysuit, I found I loved diving here all year-round. My favorite northwest diving is off Vancouver Island, B.C. I’ve spent several wonderful weeks camping and diving much of the inland straights from Port Hardy to Victoria. For wreck diving and lots of different dive opportunities, Nanaimo is super! Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with tropical diving, except getting spoiled wearing so little gear! I really love diving with my daughter on family vacations in the Caymans and Maui. I took the opportunity to become and instructor two years ago when I retired from my day job (at an extremely young age I might add). I’ve also enjoyed learning to service regulators and becoming friends with many of the Adventure Sports Dive ‘Family’ when I go on shop dive trips or work at the shop when the gang is away. Hope to see you down under! |

Michael Estlund 50185DCI started diving with Adventure Sports because I wanted to get certified for an upcoming tropical vacation and I wanted to explore the underwater world. My only initial fear was this cold water temperate you hear about called the Puget Sound. After my open water classes I realized the diving wasn’t as cold as I felt like it would be and the diving was just as amazing in the Northwest. In fact, the marine life in the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands is amazing. I decided to continue my diving with Adventure Sports by taking advance classes, Stress and Rescue, and Dive Coordinator class. The new dive buddies and friendships developed through the shop have brought me back time and time again. Stop by the shop and sign up for an upcoming dive class or trip, I will be looking forward in diving with you too!!! |
