In December 2002, she accomplished her Advanced Open Water Instructor and in November 2006 I obtained my Dive Control Specialist Instructor rating. Gustav Lian III “Gus” AOWI8386

I started my diving experiences by free diving for abalone as a teenager and than entering the scuba realm in the late 1960’s into the mid 1970’s. After a hiatus, I finally got serious in 1999. I certified with Adventure Sports. Dive leadership was a natural progression while building certification ratings and I’m currently an Advanced Open Water Instructor capable of teaching 9 specialties.

My Satisfaction in dive leadership comes from the ‘look’ of students after their transformation from light apprehension into avid, confident apprentice divers with a thirst to learn more and the ease at which this is achieved with the SSI Total Teaching System.

I absolutely believe that enjoyment in the sport comes from being comfortable and confident which in turn comes with training, experience, proper equipment and good buddies to share the experience with.

Don Edwards OWI21847

After years of snorkeling while on warm water vacations, I wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream – to be able to stay down with the critters longer than I could hold my breath. In 1999 the dream became reality as I certified as an Open Water Diver. I was hooked, and found diving the Northwest was really great. Once I owned my own drysuit, I found I loved diving here all year-round.

My favorite northwest diving is off Vancouver Island, B.C. I’ve spent several wonderful weeks camping and diving much of the inland straights from Port Hardy to Victoria. For wreck diving and lots of different dive opportunities, Nanaimo is super! Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with tropical diving, except getting spoiled wearing so little gear! I really love diving with my daughter on family vacations in the Caymans and Maui.

I took the opportunity to become and instructor two years ago when I retired from my day job (at an extremely young age I might add). I’ve also enjoyed learning to service regulators and becoming friends with many of the Adventure Sports Dive ‘Family’ when I go on shop dive trips or work at the shop when the gang is away.
Hope to see you down under!

Thomas Miller OWI46526

Tommy became certified at the young age of 13, when he, his father and his brother took the course. Since than he has been diving all over the northwest, "I love diving in the northwest, especially the Oregon Coast and Neah Bay." He has continued his diving by expanding into photography and spearfishing as well as getting involved with rebreathers. He started his professional career in 2006 and is actively continuing his training and staying involved in the growing industry. "Any time I get a chance to talk with someone about diving I get excited. Diving quickly became a passion of mine and I have enjoyed all of my diving, my training and meeting my growing list of dive buddies. Come in today so that we can start diving together!"
